NO BACK SEATS

I know it is a wonderful day and we are celebrating this really huge ruling by Judge Walker… I know it is a significant ruling, the effects of which will be played out over the next few years. I do feel happy, but my heart is heavy.

The stay means people in California still cannot get married and who knows how long that will last. LGBT people still cannot marry in most states, still do not have total workplace protection in most states, and my friend Dan Choi is still discharged because of DADT. I am celebrating the victory of Judge Walker’s ruling, but it is bittersweet. We should not have to wait another minute for full equality. This is what Judge Walker’s ruling says… but sadly, so much of this country has to catch up to this wisdom.
